Common questions
- What is the spot price?
- The spot price is the current market price of one troy ounce of pure metal. It moves through the day and is the starting point for the price of every bar and coin.
- Why does a bar or coin cost more than spot?
- Each product carries a premium over spot, which covers minting, shipping and the dealer's costs. The premium differs by product, so a small bar usually has a higher premium per ounce than a large one.
- How much is a troy ounce?
- One troy ounce is 31.1035 grams. Bullion is priced in troy ounces, which are a little heavier than the ounces used for cooking.
